{what matter's most}

I am counting it a blessing that my little girl woke me up in the wee hours of the morning today. I was grateful to have quality time with her and it also gave me time to ponder the things that matter most. It's been a challenge balancing everything with all the wedding things to still get done. But this morning my thoughts turned to the conference talk that Dieter F. Uchtdorf gave about slowing down, simplifying, and focusing on what matter's most.

As I was pondering all of this I got a message on my phone saying: "As i smell the sage brush this morning I think of you. The smell brings me peace. It reminds me that God created you and you are a beautiful daughter of Heavely Father. I love you." I'm so thankful that Chris is so in tune with the spirit and takes time to do those simple things that mean the most.

“It’s remarkable how much we can learn about life by studying nature.” ~Dieter F. Uchtforf

"May I suggest that you reduce the rush and take a little extra time to get to know yourself a little better. Walk in nature. Watch a sunrise. Enjoy Gods creations. Ponder the truths of the restored gospel and find out what they mean for you personally. Learn to see yourself as Heavenly Father see’s you, as His precious daughter or son with divine potential."

What can I learn from nature?

Slow down. Simplify.

"One of the things we learn from studying the growth of trees is that, during seasons when conditions are ideal, trees grow at a normal rate, however, during seasons are not ideal, trees slow down their growth, and devote their energy to the basic elements necessary for survival."

"It is good advise to slow down a little, steady the course, and focus on the essentials"

"Some might even think that their self worth depends on their to do list...We have to forgo some good things in order to choose other’s that are better or best because they develop faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and strengthen our families."

"To strengthen our relationship with God we need some meaningful time alone with Him."

"These core doctrine’s and principals, though simple enough for a child to understand, provide the answers to the most complex questions in life."

"We build deep and loving family relationships by doing simple things together."

"In family relationships love is really spelled T. I. M. E."

"Diligently doing the things that matter most will lead us to the Savior of the world." ~Dieter F. Uchtdorf

"My happiness derives from knowing the people I love are happy." ~ Holly Ketchel

~Yesterday's conversation with a two and a half year old:

Miss Brylie: "Mommy, are you happy?"
Me: "Yes sweetie, I am. Are you happy?"
Miss Brylie: "Yeah! I'm happy too!"
