I love days when I feel like I’ve accomplished something. Even something simple. Lately I’ve yearned for more days like that. I got thinking about this, and on those days when that sense of accomplishment is there, I realize that even if I didn’t accomplish great things, things feel great because I did my best, and not someone else’s best. It’s not always things that I did or didn’t do, it’s spiritual weaknesses I might have worked on that day, and felt one baby step closer to the ultimate goal.
“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe."
So I’ve come up with a simple plan. Going back to the basics, I call it the ABC‘s. I’m starting with A, and everyday (or at least the days that it works out), I will plan something simple, something fun to do, learn, create, work on, beautify, serve… Accomplish… then move to the next letter in the alphabet. It might sound silly, but I figure it’s an easy way to think of and come up with those things that I want to do that I might not have thought up otherwise, and that will hopefully bring me closer to my Heavenly Father and the precious people around me.
At the same time I don’t want to overwhelm myself so there is no room to grow. So I will take sweet Marjorie Hinckley’s counsel to heart when she said:
"We women have a lot to learn about simplifying our lives. We have to decide what is important and then move along at a pace that is comfortable for us. We have to develop the maturity to stop trying to prove something. We have to learn to be content with what we are."
Things to tell myself:
Remember... Simplify. Not Complicate.
Bloom where you are planted. You are where you are for a reason.
Love the Life you live.
