Usually the drive home from Grand Junction is boring. The scenery - dull. This time was an exception. I found myself gazing in amazement at the beautiful clouds & desert landscapes.

How could I have overlooked it in the past?
I pondered how perhaps much of life’s beauty might pass us by or be overlooked if we do not take the time to find it. Not just the beauty of nature, but the beauty of Heavenly Father’s hand in our lives.

It can be forgotten & missed so easily. The joy of seeing our blessings can pass us by if we do not look, and most important…
Take it in.
As the sun was going down and it was getting darker… a sweet, worried 2 year old voice kept asking, "dark? - sun? - light?" I could hear her plea in my mind saying: "Momma, why is it dark?…Where is the sun?...Will you make it be light again?"

I explained to her in as many ways as I could come up with that; "it’s nigh, nigh time so the sun has gone to sleep… it will be back tomorrow." But her worry and fear of the darkness kept on and so did her questions. I even sang her "The sun will come out tomorrow." This distracted her for a bit, but her questions kept coming…"sun?" "out?"
I wished so much that I could bring the sun back up for her.

Her sweet, innocent voice, full of questions... was heartbreaking. I surprised myself when I said softly, “I’m sorry, mommy can’t turn the light on and make the sun come out, honey bear... we have to wait for it.”
Life lesson learned. It will always come, no matter how long your night is.
